Empowering Women Through Procurement: Moving Beyond the 1% 2017-09-11T21:21:23+00:00

Project Description

UN Development Business Panel Discussion featuring Panel Member – Elizabeth Vazquez & Chief of the Panel’s Secretariat – Dr. Margo Thomas.

In contributing to the panel discussion on opportunities for empowering women entrepreneurs in global procurement, I argued that given the estimated value of $6 to $7 trillion per year in the global public procurement market, the potential economic impact of doubling women’s participation (from the current level of roughly 1 percent) would translate into roughly $700 million annually in business for women-owned enterprises.
